Science Animated: Bringing IHL-675A to Life

Incannex’s program IHL-675A combines cannabidiol (CBD) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) into a fixed-dose oral treatment that targets inflammation and immune dysregulation in RA. It’s a smart approach backed by:

  • A strong scientific rationale
  • Positive preclinical data
  • A completed Phase 1 trial
  • An ongoing 128-patient Phase 2 study

To explain this, we created a science animated 3D video showing how each compound works and how they complement each other. HCQ regulates the overactive immune system. CBD targets the CB1 and CB2 receptors to reduce inflammatory cytokines. Together, they address the root causes of RA in a novel way.

Behind the Scenes – Challenges We Faced Animating Science

Every science animated project has unique hurdles. Here’s what stood out during the production of the Incannex rheumatoid arthritis video:

Visualizing a Synergistic MoA

Explaining a dual-mechanism drug visually requires careful planning. Our animation had to show:

  • Different biological targets (receptors and immune cells)
  • Cellular interactions at multiple levels
  • Inflammation reduction at the tissue level

The challenge was creating smooth transitions that built up the scientific story without overloading the viewer. Our solution: layered storytelling with zoom-ins, clean molecule models, and minimal text on screen.

Static Frames from a Moving Story

After final delivery, Incannex asked for high-res images of individual frames to use in presentations and materials. But pulling static visuals from a 3D video isn’t plug-and-play—motion blur and lighting optimized for animation can fall flat in a still.

Instead of creating friction, we chose to deliver the requested graphics at no extra charge. It was the right thing to do—and reflected how we approach long-term partnerships with biotech clients.

Why “Science Animated” Works for Biotech

This project highlights how science animated can solve a critical communication gap:

  • It simplifies without dumbing down
  • It excites while staying accurate
  • It sparks investor interest and deeper discussions

If you’re working on novel science, you need more than a pitch deck—you need a story that sticks. That’s where animation comes in.
